Devious Comments

What makes things more complicated is that I'm also a programmer. Many of my digital works make use of programs I wrote myself to generate or otherwise manipulate digital artwork. Most of these custom programs are written for a specific art project. How is the staff to judge my skill level on the resulting pieces? My "artist's comments" usually describe at least some of what went into the piece, but I don't often explicitly say "I wrote custom software to do this" because my watchers should be able to infer that.
The one thing I've tried to submit to this group was one of those. It was based on equations of temperature and brightness, evaluated for every pixel, in nearly a hundred different wavelengths before conversion to RGB. And I tweaked those equations of temperature and brightness until I got just the image I had in my head. The submission was rejected. At the time, there were 3 requirements for gallery submissions: no nudity (check); something trivial which I don't remember (digital art, or my own work, or something; check); and something about not looking like something anyone could do in 10 minutes. Well I certainly spent more than 10 minutes perfecting my Ring Of Fire, and I can't imagine someone re-creating it with "standard" digital painting tools in 10 minutes either.
Maybe this is why the submission guidelines were reworked. But I still don't see how the group staff is going to properly assess my skill level when I use my own custom tools so frequently.

Feel free to check out my gallery.
Feel free to get naked.
Feel free to ignore these suggestions, though frankly I think they're good advice.
